The Best Shanghai Bars

Dec 8 , 2011

As one of the largest cities in the world, Shanghai has a population that is quickly rising. While there is a lot to do in Shanghai, perhaps its choice of bars is the best aspect of the city and what keeps the people coming back.

Like many cities in China, Shanghai offers quite a night life. As one of the largest cities in the world, there is certainly more than enough to do in this booming city. While it may be lacking a little in historical monuments, one thing Shanghai has no shortage of is bars. Here are the best bars Shanghai has to offer.

Vue Bar : This unique bar is found on the 32nd and 33rd floors of the Hyatt on the Bund. It offers a view few bars can offer. During the winter, it is probably best to stay inside, but in the summer, don't forget a swimsuit because there are jacuzzis and day beds on the deck outside the bar.

Bar Rouge: Similar to the Vue Bar, Bar Rouge is located in the Hyatt on the Bund. This eighth floor establishment also offers an excellent view across the Huangpu River. There is a warm feel with flames across the top of the bar. The Hyatt on the Bund offers two unique bars in the same hotel.

Cloud 9 Bar: Located on the 87th floor of Jin Mao Tower, Cloud 9 offers a 360 degree view of Shanghai that no other bar in the city can match. It is one of the highest cocktail bars in the world. The cocktails are creatively named after different stars. Enjoy the architecture on the interior that makes this bar so unique.

Glamour Bar: The name doesn't even begin to describe the shiny, intricate designs on the interior of the bar. Located on the Bund near the Huangpu River, this bar offers a little something for everybody with a variety of personalities. Come any time, it is open all hours of the night.

Lounge 18: For more of an old school look, visit Lounge 18. It gives visitors a taste of Old Shanghai. Located on the Bund, it is quickly becoming famous for its late night wild parties. The decor is a good mixture of modern and classical. Enjoy some dumplings while sipping a cocktail.

Shanghai Bar: Without question, this bar lives up to its name and represents the city well. This quiet bar is the perfect place to have a drink after work or to start off the night. While there are many western bar elements, Shanghai bar also has traditional Shanghai designs unique to the city.

Galaxy Lounge Bar: With more than 200 different Martini cocktails available, the Galaxy Lounge Bar offers something for people of all taste pallets. The bar is made up of three different areas, including the Sky Lounge.
