The Best Shanghai Clubs
Dec 8 , 2011
China and Shanghai in particular like to party when the sun goes down. They also like to party in high-rise buildings. From western clubs to those unique to China, Shanghai has a club for anybody.
The Shanghai night life is un-matched almost anywhere else in the world. From restaurants to bars to nightclubs, Shanghai knows how to party when the sun goes down. As one of the biggest cities in the world, there are undoubtedly more than enough clubs in the area. Here are the best clubs Shanghai has to offer.
Sin Club: Looking for something out of the ordinary? Then go no further than Sin Club. From dancers covered in mud and hosing each other off to international DJs, Sin Club is not for the modest. The club hosts 'sin' ful parties such as Pervert parties where guests come dressed as perverts. The colorful interior adds style to the club.
Club 88: This chain of clubs started in smaller Chinese towns, but has since moved to the bigger cities. 88 is a lucky number in Chinese and this club is always packed. As one of Shanghai's hottest spots, it has a victorian look and those looking to dance can do so anywhere in the club.
Muse: As a two-story club, Muse has DJs, dancing, and human-beatbox performances downstairs. Move upstairs to the hip-hop area and enjoy dancing in a smaller room. The club was founded by a Taiwanese celebrity and is packed with both Chinese and Taiwanese.
Zapatas: This Mexican restaurant by day turns into a disco club at night. Zapatas specializes in music from the 80's and people dancing on the bar similar to a German bar. The big nights of the week are the two ladies nights, Wednesday and Saturday. Come early because it will get packed as the night goes on.
M2: Located on the fourth floor of the Hong Kong Plaza, M2 is an extremely popular international club. It mixes western and Chinese culture perfectly. A big dance floor offers room for everyone. The club has hosted some of the biggest names in music and has become the grand daddy of all international clubs.
Prive: Looking for a unique view of the city? Prive offers that in the form of a night club. There is an excellent view of the city, including the riverside. Located on the Bund, this club has a cosmopolitan feel with huge windows to enjoy the view.
Muse Park 97: Want good service, this is the place to go. Enjoy a 360 degree oval-shaped bar on the first floor with excellent service. Move upstairs to the VIP area and take a moment to stop and look at the shark tank. Those interested in pool, Muse Park 97 also has a pool table tucked away in the corner.
